Dohneiiong (khasi Style Pork Stew)
Dohneiiong is a traditional Khasi pork stew from the North East Indian cuisine. It is a flavorful and hearty dish that is perfect for a comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 500g pork belly, cut into cubes
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 3-4 green chilies, slit
- 1 inch ginger, grated
- 4-5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tbsp mustard oil
- Salt to taste
- Water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat mustard oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add the green chilies, grated ginger, and minced garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the pork cubes, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.
- Pour in enough water to cover the pork. Cover and simmer for 45-50 minutes or until the pork is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
