Dolma (armenian Stuffed Tomatoes)
Dolma is a traditional Armenian dish made with stuffed tomatoes, typically served as an appetizer or side dish. The filling is a flavorful mixture of rice, ground meat, and aromatic herbs, creating a delicious and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 6 large tomatoes
- 1 cup rice
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the tomatoes and scoop out the insides. Sprinkle the insides with salt and let them drain upside down on a paper towel while preparing the filling.
- In a large bowl, combine the rice, ground beef, onion, parsley, mint, olive oil, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Stuff the tomatoes with the rice and meat mixture, place them in a baking dish, and cover with the tomato tops.
- Bake for 1 hour or until the tomatoes are tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve the dolma hot as an appetizer or side dish.
