Dolmeh Barge Mo (stuffed Grape Leaves)
Dolmeh Barge Mo, also known as Stuffed Grape Leaves, is a popular dish in Afghan cuisine. These flavorful and aromatic stuffed grape leaves are a delicious appetizer or main dish.
Ingredients
- 1 jar grape leaves, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup long-grain white rice, uncooked
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup fresh dill, chopped
- 1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix together the rice, onion, dill, mint, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
- Place a grape leaf on a flat surface, shiny side down. Place a small amount of the rice mixture in the center of the leaf.
- Fold the bottom of the leaf over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll it up into a tight cylinder.
- Repeat with the remaining grape leaves and rice mixture.
- Place the stuffed grape leaves in a pot, seam side down, and add enough water to cover them.
- Cover the pot and cook over low heat for 1 hour.
- Remove from heat and let cool before serving.
