Dolmeh Felfel (persian Stuffed Bell Peppers)
Dolmeh Felfel is a traditional Iranian dish that features bell peppers stuffed with a flavorful mixture of rice, meat, and herbs.
Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1/2 lb ground beef or lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup pine nuts
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked rice, ground meat, onion, tomatoes, herbs, raisins, pine nuts, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the rice and meat mixture.
- Place the stuffed peppers in a baking dish and cover with the pepper tops.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve the stuffed bell peppers hot, garnished with additional herbs if desired.
