Dolmeh (stuffed Bell Peppers)

Ingredients

  • 4 large bell peppers
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1/2 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together the cooked rice, ground beef or lamb, onion, parsley, mint, walnuts, raisins, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
  4. Stuff the bell peppers with the rice and meat mixture.
  5. Place the stuffed bell peppers in a baking dish and drizzle with olive oil.
  6. Pour the tomato sauce over the stuffed peppers.
  7. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the filling is cooked through.
  9. Serve the dolmeh hot and enjoy!
