Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 inch of ginger, grated
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 green peppers, sliced
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon cardamom
- 1/2 teaspoon ground fenugreek
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.
- Add the onions, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until the onions are soft and translucent.
- Add the chicken pieces and brown on all sides.
- Stir in the tomatoes, green peppers, turmeric, cardamom, fenugreek, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook for 45-50 minutes, or until the chicken is tender.
- Adjust the seasoning if needed and serve the Doro Alicha hot with injera or rice.
