Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp curry powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add water and knead the dough until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 15 minutes.
  2. Divide the dough into small balls, then flatten each ball into a small round disc.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the dough discs until golden brown and puffy. Drain on paper towels.
  4. In a separate pan, sauté the onion and garlic until fragrant. Add the curry powder, turmeric, cumin, and cayenne pepper. Stir in the cooked chickpeas and cook for 5-7 minutes. Season with salt.
  5. To assemble, place a spoonful of the curried chickpeas between two pieces of fried bread. Serve hot.
