Dovga (creamy Yogurt Dip)
Dovga is a traditional Tajik yogurt-based dip that is creamy, tangy, and packed with flavor. It's a popular dish in Tajik cuisine and is perfect for serving as a dip or alongside main dishes.
Ingredients
- 2 cups plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup rice
- 4 cups water
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup fresh dill, chopped
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, combine the rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the rice is cooked.
- In a bowl, whisk the egg and yogurt together until smooth.
- Slowly pour the yogurt mixture into the pot with the cooked rice, stirring constantly.
- Add the chopped dill and salt to the pot, and continue to cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let the dovga cool slightly before serving.
