Dovlecei umpluti, or Aromanian Stuffed Zucchini, is a traditional dish from the Aromanian cuisine. It consists of zucchinis stuffed with a flavorful mixture of meat, rice, and herbs, creating a delicious and hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 4 medium zucchinis
- 1 pound ground meat (beef or lamb)
- 1 cup rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh dill
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the zucchinis and scoop out the flesh, leaving a shell to be stuffed.
- In a bowl, mix the ground meat, rice, onion, tomatoes, parsley, dill, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the zucchinis with the meat and rice mixture.
- Place the stuffed zucchinis in a baking dish, drizzle with olive oil, and cover with foil.
- Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the zucchinis are tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
