Dried Yam Curry
Dried Yam Curry is a traditional Naga dish that is packed with flavors and nutrition. This hearty curry is a perfect combination of dried yam and aromatic spices, making it a comforting and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 200g dried yam
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 cups water
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Soak the dried yam in water for 2 hours, then drain and set aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onion until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Stir in the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the soaked dried yam and water. Cover and cook until the yam is tender.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or roti.
