Ingredients
- 4 large oranges, zest and juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 eggs
- 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup ground almonds
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the sugar and butter. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the orange zest, orange juice, and vanilla extract.
- Combine the flour and baking powder; gently fold into the wet ingredients. Fold in the ground almonds until well combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack and cool completely.
- Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
