Duck Crackling Tacos (chicharrón De Pato Tacos)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb duck breast
  • 1 tsp Chinese five-spice powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/2 cup crumbled queso fresco
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. Score the skin of the duck breast and rub the Chinese five-spice powder, salt, and black pepper all over the duck.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the duck breast, skin side down, and cook for 8-10 minutes until the skin is crispy.
  3. Flip the duck breast and continue cooking for another 5-7 minutes until the duck is cooked to your desired doneness. Remove from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  4. Warm the corn tortillas in the skillet for about 30 seconds on each side.
  5. Assemble the tacos by placing slices of the crispy duck on the tortillas and topping with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, red onion, cilantro, and queso fresco. Serve with lime wedges.
