Duck Rice (arroz Con Pato)
Duck Rice, also known as Arroz con Pato, is a traditional Peruvian dish that combines tender duck with flavorful rice, seasoned with a variety of herbs and spices. This hearty and satisfying meal is perfect for a special occasion or a cozy family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 whole duck, cut into pieces
- 2 cups long-grain white rice
- 1 red onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup beer
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Season the duck pieces with salt, pepper, cumin, and paprika.
- In a large pot, brown the duck pieces over medium heat until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté the onion, garlic, and red bell pepper until softened.
- Add the rice and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Pour in the beer and cook for 2 minutes to evaporate the alcohol.
- Return the duck pieces to the pot and add the chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes or until the rice is tender and the duck is cooked through.
- Sprinkle with chopped cilantro before serving.
