Duck Rice (arroz De Pato)
Duck Rice, or Arroz de Pato, is a traditional Portuguese dish that combines tender duck meat with flavorful rice, creating a hearty and comforting meal.
Ingredients
- 1 whole duck, cut into pieces
- 2 cups of rice
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 cup of white wine
- 4 cups of chicken or vegetable broth
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Season the duck pieces with salt and pepper.
- In a large pot, sear the duck pieces over medium heat until browned. Remove the duck from the pot and set aside.
- In the same pot, sauté the onion, garlic, and bay leaf until the onion is translucent.
- Add the rice to the pot and stir to coat it with the onion and garlic mixture.
- Pour in the white wine and let it simmer for a few minutes until it reduces slightly.
- Return the duck pieces to the pot and add the broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes or until the duck is tender and the rice is cooked.
