Dum Aloo Delight
Dum Aloo Delight is a classic North Indian dish known for its rich and creamy gravy, infused with aromatic spices and tender baby potatoes. This recipe is a perfect combination of flavors and textures that will surely delight your taste buds.
Ingredients
- 500g baby potatoes
- 1 cup yogurt
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 2 tbsp cashew nuts, ground into a paste
- 2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 tsp ground coriander
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Boil the baby potatoes until they are fork-tender. Peel and prick them with a fork.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Once they splutter, add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Then, add the tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
- Whisk the yogurt and add it to the pan along with the cashew nut paste, turmeric, red chili powder, ground coriander, ground cumin, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
- Add the boiled potatoes and garam masala. Cover the pan with a lid and let it simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with naan or rice.
