Slow-cooked Chicken (Dum Ka Murgh) is a classic dish from Mughlai cuisine known for its rich and aromatic flavors. This recipe involves marinating the chicken in a blend of spices and slow-cooking it to perfection, resulting in tender and flavorful meat.
Ingredients
- 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 onions, finely sliced
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp garam masala
- 1/2 cup cashew nut paste
- 1/4 cup fresh cream
- 1/4 cup ghee
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt to make the marinade.
- Marinate the chicken pieces in the prepared marinade for at least 2 hours.
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat ghee and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown.
- Add the marinated chicken and cook on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add cashew nut paste and fresh cream, and continue to cook for another 20 minutes until the chicken is tender and the gravy is thick.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
