Dum Ka Murgh (Slow-cooked Chicken)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 cup cashew nut paste
  • 1/4 cup fresh cream
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt to make the marinade.
  2. Marinate the chicken pieces in the prepared marinade for at least 2 hours.
  3. In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat ghee and sauté the sliced onions until golden brown.
  4. Add the marinated chicken and cook on low heat for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add cashew nut paste and fresh cream, and continue to cook for another 20 minutes until the chicken is tender and the gravy is thick.
  6. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
