Dutch Cheese Fondue
Dutch Cheese Fondue is a classic dish from the Netherlands, perfect for a cozy evening with friends or family. This creamy and indulgent fondue is made with a blend of Dutch cheeses and is traditionally served with crusty bread, boiled potatoes, and a variety of vegetables.
Ingredients
- 1 clove garlic, halved
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 8 ounces Gouda cheese, grated
- 8 ounces Edam cheese, grated
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons kirsch (cherry brandy)
- Pinch of nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the cut sides of the garlic clove.
- Pour the wine and lemon juice into the pot and heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer.
- Toss the grated Gouda and Edam cheeses with cornstarch in a bowl.
- Gradually add the cheese mixture to the simmering wine, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and the fondue is smooth.
- Stir in the kirsch, nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Transfer the fondue pot to the fondue burner and keep warm while serving.
