Easter Cake, also known as Pască, is a traditional Moldovan dessert enjoyed during the Easter holiday. This sweet and rich cake is typically filled with a creamy cheese mixture and topped with a lattice crust, making it a delightful treat for the whole family.
Ingredients
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 lb farmer's cheese
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, melted butter, 3 eggs, sour cream, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough in half. Roll out one half and place it in the bottom of a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the farmer's cheese, 1 egg, raisins, and powdered sugar. Spread this mixture over the dough in the baking dish.
- Roll out the remaining dough and place it over the cheese mixture, creating a lattice crust.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour, or until the crust is golden brown.
