Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cabbage, cored
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 cups sauerkraut, drained
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Boil the cabbage in a large pot of water for 5 minutes, then carefully remove the leaves and set aside to cool.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, cooked rice, onion, caraway seeds, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Place a spoonful of the pork mixture onto each cabbage leaf, then roll them up, tucking in the sides as you go.
  5. Place the sauerkraut in the bottom of a large pot or Dutch oven, then arrange the cabbage rolls on top.
  6. Pour the beef broth over the rolls, cover the pot, and simmer on the stovetop for 1 hour.
  7. Serve the rolls with a dollop of sour cream, if desired.
