Ingredients

  • 1 kg pickling cucumbers, sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp whole black peppercorns
  • 2 bay leaves

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine water, vinegar, sugar, salt, peppercorns, and bay leaves. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring until the sugar and salt are dissolved.
  2. Add the sliced cucumbers, onion, and crushed garlic to the pot. Let the mixture simmer for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
  3. Allow the pickles to cool to room temperature, then transfer them to a clean, sterilized quart-sized jar. Make sure the cucumbers are fully submerged in the liquid.
  4. Seal the jar and refrigerate the pickles for at least 24 hours before serving. The pickles will keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
