Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup split Bengal gram lentils (chana dal), soaked
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 green chilies, chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 4 eggs
  • 4 burger buns
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, soaked lentils, chopped onion, green chilies, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
  2. Form the mixture into 4 patties and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry the patties until cooked through, about 5-6 minutes per side.
  4. In a separate pan, fry the eggs until the yolks are set.
  5. Toast the burger buns in the same pan or on a griddle until lightly golden.
  6. Assemble the burgers by placing a beef patty on the bottom half of each bun, topping with a fried egg, and covering with the top half of the bun.
  7. Serve hot with ketchup or chutney.
