Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice, rinsed and soaked for 30 minutes
- 4 cups water
- 4-5 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Drain the soaked rice and add it to the boiling water.
- Add the crushed cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, ghee or oil, and salt to the pot.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the rice simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and remove the cinnamon stick before serving.
