Ingredients

  • 2 cups basmati rice, rinsed and soaked for 30 minutes
  • 4 cups water
  • 4-5 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or vegetable oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and add it to the boiling water.
  3. Add the crushed cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, ghee or oil, and salt to the pot.
  4. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the rice simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the water is absorbed and the rice is tender.
  5. Fluff the rice with a fork and remove the cinnamon stick before serving.
