Ingredients

  • 1 kg beef, cut into cubes
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 cardamom pods
  • 6 cloves
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until golden brown.
  2. Add the beef cubes and cook until browned on all sides.
  3. Add the tomatoes, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, curry leaves, mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, and cumin seeds. Stir well.
  4. Add the chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix until the spices are well combined.
  5. Pour in the coconut milk and bring the curry to a gentle simmer. Cover and cook for 1 hour or until the beef is tender.
  6. Once the beef is cooked, remove from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
