Emirati Luqaimat (honey Dumplings) With Cardamom Syrup
Emirati Luqaimat, also known as Honey Dumplings, is a popular dessert in Arab cuisine. These small, sweet dumplings are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, drizzled with a fragrant cardamom-infused syrup.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups warm water
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- 1 cup honey
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water and mix until a smooth batter forms. Cover the bowl and let the batter rest for 1 hour.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep pot over medium heat. Using a spoon, drop small portions of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown. Remove the dumplings and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
- In a saucepan, combine the honey, water, and ground cardamom. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly. Once the syrup thickens slightly, remove from heat.
- Drizzle the cardamom syrup over the fried dumplings and serve warm.
