Empanadas De Carne Al Estilo Colombiano (colombian-style Beef Empanadas)
Empanadas de Carne al Estilo Colombiano, or Colombian-style Beef Empanadas, are a popular dish in Muisca Cuisine. These savory turnovers are filled with seasoned ground beef and are perfect for a delicious snack or meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 empanada discs (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let the filling cool.
- Place a spoonful of the beef filling in the center of each empanada disc. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
- Brush the empanadas with the beaten egg to create a golden crust when fried.
- In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Fry the empanadas in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve the empanadas hot and enjoy!
