Empanadas De Carne (uruguayan Beef Empanadas)
Empanadas de Carne are traditional Uruguayan beef empanadas that are perfect for a savory snack or a meal. These delicious pastries are filled with a flavorful beef mixture and are sure to be a hit at any gathering.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
- 1/2 cup green olives, pitted and chopped
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 12 empanada discs (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the chopped hard-boiled eggs, olives, raisins, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, then remove from heat and let the filling cool.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place a spoonful of the beef filling in the center of each empanada disc. Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape, then crimp the edges with a fork to seal.
- Place the empanadas on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let the empanadas cool for a few minutes before serving.
