Eral Varuval (mangalore Biryani Prawn Fry)
Eral Varuval, also known as Mangalore Biryani Prawn Fry, is a popular dish from the coastal region of Karnataka. This spicy and flavorful prawn fry is a perfect accompaniment to steamed rice or as a side dish for any meal.
Ingredients
- 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 2 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Heat oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Now, add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.
- Add the cleaned prawns and cook for 5-7 minutes until they are cooked through.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
