Eral Varuval (spicy Sri Lankan Prawn Stir-fry)

Ingredients

  • 500g prawns, cleaned and deveined
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 3-4 green chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté the onions, green chilies, and curry leaves until the onions turn golden brown.
  2. Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
  3. Now, add the red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
  4. Add the prawns and cook for 5-6 minutes until they are cooked through.
  5. Drizzle lemon juice over the prawns and stir well.
  6. Remove from heat and serve hot.
