Eritrean Style Beef Kebabs (Tibsi Firfir Be'siga)

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs beef sirloin, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 skewers

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the chopped onion, minced garlic, olive oil, paprika, cumin, coriander, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create the marinade.
  2. Add the beef cubes to the marinade and toss to coat evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to infuse.
  3. Preheat the stovetop grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated beef cubes onto the skewers, leaving a little space between each piece.
  5. Place the beef kebabs on the preheated grill or skillet and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
  6. Once cooked, remove the kebabs from the heat and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
