Exotic Hyderabadi Dum Ka Gosht (Slow-cooked Lamb)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg lamb, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely sliced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon red chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 cup fried onions
  • 1/4 cup chopped mint leaves
  • 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • 1/2 cup ghee
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Marinate the lamb pieces with yogurt, ginger-garlic paste, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt. Let it marinate for 1 hour.
  2. Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan and add the finely sliced onions. Cook until they turn golden brown.
  3. Add the marinated lamb to the pan and cook on low heat for 15 minutes.
  4. Add fried onions, mint leaves, and coriander leaves. Mix well.
  5. Cover the pan with a tight-fitting lid and cook on very low heat for 1.5 hours, allowing the lamb to cook in its own juices.
  6. Once done, garnish with additional fried onions and serve hot.
