Exotic Hyderabadi Paneer Biryani
Experience the rich flavors of Hyderabadi cuisine with this Exotic Hyderabadi Paneer Biryani. This aromatic and flavorful dish is a perfect blend of spices, paneer, and fragrant basmati rice, creating a truly indulgent meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice, soaked for 30 minutes and drained
- 250g paneer, cut into cubes
- 2 onions, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup yogurt
- 1/4 cup mint leaves
- 1/4 cup cilantro leaves
- 4 green chilies, slit
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- Whole spices: bay leaf, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1 tsp biryani masala
- Saffron strands soaked in 2 tbsp warm milk
- Salt to taste
- 4 cups water
- 3 tbsp ghee
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
- Heat ghee and oil in a large pot. Add the whole spices and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the sliced onions and cook until golden brown.
- Stir in the ginger-garlic paste, green chilies, mint leaves, and cilantro leaves. Cook for 2 minutes.
- Add the paneer cubes and cook for 5 minutes.
- In a separate pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the soaked and drained basmati rice along with salt. Cook until the rice is 70% done. Drain the rice and keep aside.
- In the pot with the paneer mixture, layer half of the partially cooked rice. Sprinkle half of the biryani masala, red chili powder, and turmeric powder.
- Layer the remaining rice on top. Sprinkle the saffron-infused milk over the rice.
- Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid and cook on low heat for 20 minutes.
- Once done, gently mix the layers and serve hot.
