Оромо с бараниной (Exotic Oromo with Lamb) is a traditional Kyrgyz dish that features tender lamb meat wrapped in a thin layer of dough and cooked to perfection. This savory and flavorful dish is perfect for special occasions or gatherings with friends and family.
Ingredients
- 500g lamb meat, thinly sliced
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the flour and water to form a smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic, and sauté until they are soft and translucent.
- Add the lamb meat to the skillet and cook until browned.
- Stir in the tomatoes, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, then remove from heat and set aside.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin circle.
- Place a spoonful of the lamb mixture in the center of each dough circle, then fold the edges to form a semi-circle. Press the edges to seal the filling inside.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the oromo for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from the skillet and serve hot.
