Falafel Waffles

Falafel Waffles are a delicious twist on the classic Middle Eastern falafel. These savory waffles are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making them the perfect base for a variety of toppings and sauces.

Falafel Waffles

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups dried chickpeas, soaked overnight
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp ground coriander
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2-3 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Drain the soaked chickpeas and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  2. In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Pulse until the mixture is finely chopped but not pureed.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the baking powder and flour until well combined.
  4. Preheat the waffle iron and brush it with olive oil.
  5. Spoon the falafel mixture onto the waffle iron and spread it evenly. Close the waffle iron and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the falafel waffles are golden and crispy.
  6. Repeat with the remaining falafel mixture, brushing the waffle iron with more olive oil as needed.
  7. Serve the falafel waffles hot with your favorite toppings and sauces.
