Falafel Waffles
Falafel Waffles are a delicious twist on the classic Middle Eastern falafel. These savory waffles are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, making them the perfect base for a variety of toppings and sauces.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups dried chickpeas, soaked overnight
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 cup fresh parsley
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2-3 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Drain the soaked chickpeas and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, onion, garlic, parsley, cumin, coriander, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Pulse until the mixture is finely chopped but not pureed.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl and stir in the baking powder and flour until well combined.
- Preheat the waffle iron and brush it with olive oil.
- Spoon the falafel mixture onto the waffle iron and spread it evenly. Close the waffle iron and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the falafel waffles are golden and crispy.
- Repeat with the remaining falafel mixture, brushing the waffle iron with more olive oil as needed.
- Serve the falafel waffles hot with your favorite toppings and sauces.
