Fenugreek Flatbread (methi Thepla)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup fresh fenugreek leaves (methi), finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon ajwain (carom seeds)
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, chopped fenugreek leaves, turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin seeds, ajwain, oil, and salt.
  2. Knead the mixture into a smooth dough, adding water as needed.
  3. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls and roll each ball into a flatbread (thepla) using a rolling pin.
  4. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and cook each thepla until golden brown spots appear on both sides, brushing with oil as needed.
  5. Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls.
  6. Serve the Methi Thepla hot with yogurt, pickle, or chutney.
