Filfil Mahshi (stuffed Bell Peppers With Spiced Rice And Lamb)
Filfil Mahshi is a traditional Qatari dish made with bell peppers stuffed with spiced rice and lamb, creating a flavorful and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 4 large bell peppers
- 1 cup long-grain rice
- 250g ground lamb
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon ground coriander
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut the tops off the bell peppers and remove the seeds and membranes.
- In a large bowl, combine the rice, ground lamb, onion, tomatoes, garlic, cumin, coriander, cinnamon, salt, and pepper.
- Stuff the bell peppers with the rice and lamb mixture.
- Place the stuffed peppers in a deep pot and pour the broth over them.
- Cover the pot and simmer over low heat for 45-50 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the filling is cooked through.
- Remove the stuffed peppers from the pot and place them on a serving dish.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
