Ingredients

  • 500g Chitol fish, deboned and minced
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup gram flour
  • 2 teaspoons ginger paste
  • 2 teaspoons garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 4 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the minced fish, chopped onion, gram flour, ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Knead the mixture into a smooth dough.
  2. Divide the dough into small portions and shape them into round dumplings.
  3. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the fish dumplings until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
  4. In a separate pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add the fried fish dumplings and let them cook for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Meanwhile, in a separate pan, heat some oil and sauté the remaining chopped onion until golden brown.
  6. Add ginger paste, garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and red chili powder to the sautéed onions. Cook for a few minutes.
  7. Pour the onion and spice mixture into the pot with the fish dumplings. Let it simmer for 10-15 minutes to thicken the gravy.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
