Ingredients
- 1 whole fish, cleaned and cut into pieces
- 2 tomatoes, quartered
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 inch ginger, sliced
- 2 lemongrass stalks, bruised
- 4-5 red chilies, sliced
- 1 tablespoon black peppercorns
- 1 tablespoon tamarind paste
- 4 cups water
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- In a pot, bring water to a boil and add the tomatoes, onion, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, red chilies, and black peppercorns. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Add the tamarind paste and salt to the pot, then gently place the fish pieces into the broth. Simmer for another 10-15 minutes until the fish is cooked through.
- Adjust the seasoning to taste and serve the fish in pepper soup hot with steamed rice.
