Fish Molho
Fish Molho is a traditional Goan Catholic dish that features a flavorful and tangy sauce, perfect for serving with rice or bread.
Ingredients
- 4 fish fillets
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, chopped
- 4-5 green chilies, slit
- 1/2 inch ginger, grated
- 4-5 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp oil
Instructions
- Marinate the fish fillets with turmeric powder and salt. Set aside for 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan and fry the fish fillets until golden brown. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add more oil if needed. Sauté the onions, ginger, and garlic until golden brown.
- Add the tomatoes, green chilies, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Cook until the tomatoes are soft.
- Pour in the vinegar and bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add the fried fish fillets to the sauce and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and serve the Fish Molho hot with rice or bread.
