Ingredients

  • 500g fish (preferably tuna or mackerel)
  • 1 cup goraka (dried gamboge) pieces
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2-3 green chilies, sliced
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1-inch pandan leaf (rampe)
  • 1-inch cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 cup thick coconut milk
  • Salt to taste
  • Water

Instructions

  1. First, clean and cut the fish into medium-sized pieces. Set aside.
  2. In a large pot, combine the goraka pieces, sliced onion, green chilies, curry leaves, pandan leaf, cinnamon stick, fenugreek seeds, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, and salt.
  3. Add water just enough to cover the ingredients and bring it to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, add the fish pieces and cook over medium heat until the fish is cooked and the curry thickens.
  5. Finally, add the thick coconut milk, simmer for a few minutes, and remove from heat.
