Fiskatacos (faroese Fish Tacos)

Ingredients

  • 4 fillets of white fish (such as cod or haddock)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • Lime wedges for serving
  • Hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix the paprika, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Rub the spice mixture onto both sides of the fish fillets.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Add the fish fillets and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  3. Warm the tortillas in a separate skillet or in the oven.
  4. Assemble the tacos by placing a portion of the cooked fish onto each tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage, diced tomatoes, cilantro, red onion, and avocado slices.
  5. Serve the fiskatacos with lime wedges and hot sauce on the side, if desired.
