Five Fingers (beshbarmak)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lamb or beef, cut into chunks
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Water

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, add the meat and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 hours or until the meat is tender.

  3. Once the meat is cooked, remove it from the pot and shred it into bite-sized pieces.
  4. In a separate pan, caramelize the sliced onions.
  5. Cook the noodles in the same pot of boiling water used for the meat until al dente.
  6. To serve, place the cooked noodles on a platter, top with the shredded meat, and garnish with caramelized onions.
