Ingredients
- 1 block of firm tofu, drained and crumbled
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 cup water chestnuts, chopped
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 1 head of iceberg or butter lettuce, leaves separated
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup chopped peanuts (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix the crumbled tofu with soy sauce and five-spice powder. Set aside.
- Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add garlic, onion, and bell pepper. Cook until softened.
- Add the marinated tofu and water chestnuts to the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in hoisin sauce and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
- Arrange lettuce leaves on a platter. Spoon the tofu mixture into the lettuce cups.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and chopped peanuts, if desired.
