Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon condensed milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons ghee or butter

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the condensed milk, egg, and water.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for 10 minutes, then cover and let it rest for 1 hour.
  5. Divide the dough into 6 equal portions and shape them into balls. Let them rest for another 10 minutes.
  6. On a floured surface, roll out each ball of dough into a thin sheet.
  7. Spread ghee or butter on the rolled-out dough, then fold it into a square or spiral shape.
  8. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the roti canai until golden brown and flaky on both sides.
  9. Repeat with the remaining dough balls.
