Flan De Almendra Y Azahar (almond And Orange Blossom Flan)
Flan de Almendra y Azahar, or Almond and Orange Blossom Flan, is a traditional dessert from Aragonese cuisine that combines the delicate flavors of almonds and orange blossom. This creamy and aromatic flan is a delightful way to end a meal.
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup ground almonds
- 1 tablespoon orange blossom water
Instructions
- In a saucepan, caramelize the sugar over medium heat until it turns golden brown. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting the dish to coat the bottom evenly.
- In a blender, combine the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, ground almonds, and orange blossom water. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into the caramel-coated baking dish.
- Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for 1 hour, or until the flan is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight, until completely chilled.
- To serve, run a knife around the edge of the dish and invert the flan onto a serving plate. The caramel will form a sauce around the flan.
