Flan De Caramelo Guatemalteco (guatemalan Caramel Flan)
Flan de Caramelo Guatemalteco, also known as Guatemalan Caramel Flan, is a classic dessert in Guatemalan cuisine. This creamy and decadent dessert is a perfect way to end a delicious meal.
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a small saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into a golden caramel. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting the dish to evenly coat the bottom.
- In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.
- Place the baking dish into a larger roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
- To serve, run a knife around the edge of the dish and invert the flan onto a serving plate. The caramel sauce will flow over the top.
