Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into a golden caramel. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch round baking dish, tilting the dish to evenly coat the bottom.
  3. In a blender, combine the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
  4. Pour the mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.
  5. Place the baking dish into a larger roasting pan and fill the roasting pan with hot water halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  7. Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  8. To serve, run a knife around the edge of the dish and invert the flan onto a serving plate. The caramel sauce will flow over the top.
