Flan De Coco (honduran Coconut Flan)
Flan de Coco, also known as Honduran Coconut Flan, is a creamy and decadent dessert that is popular in Honduran cuisine. This dessert is a delightful combination of rich custard and tropical coconut flavor, making it a perfect sweet treat for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can (13.5 oz) coconut milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup shredded coconut
- 1 cup sugar
Instructions
- In a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat until it turns into a golden caramel. Pour the caramel into a flan mold, tilting the mold to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool.
- In a blender, combine the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, coconut milk, vanilla extract, and shredded coconut. Blend until smooth.
- Pour the mixture into the flan mold over the caramel. Cover the mold with aluminum foil.
- Place the flan mold in a larger baking dish and fill the baking dish with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan mold.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour, or until the flan is set. Remove from the oven and let it cool.
- Refrigerate the flan for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
- To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, place a serving plate on top of the mold, and carefully invert the flan onto the plate.
