Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add the warm water and mix until smooth. Cover the bowl and let the batter rest for 1 hour.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and cook until softened.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. While the sauce is simmering, heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet and spread it into a thin, round flatbread. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown.
  5. Repeat with the remaining batter to make additional flatbreads.
  6. Serve the flatbreads with the tomato sauce on top.
