Flavorsome Mutton Korma

Ingredients

  • 500g mutton, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup cashew nuts, soaked in water
  • 1/4 cup coconut milk
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4-5 green cardamom pods
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the mutton with yogurt and set aside for 30 minutes.
  2. In a large pot, heat ghee and add the whole spices (cinnamon, cardamom, cumin seeds).
  3. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Stir in the ginger-garlic paste, tomato puree, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.
  5. Add the marinated mutton and cook on medium heat until the mutton is tender.
  6. Meanwhile, grind the soaked cashew nuts into a smooth paste.
  7. Once the mutton is cooked, add the cashew paste and coconut milk. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
