Flavorsome Mutton Korma
Mutton Korma is a rich and flavorful dish from South Indian cuisine that is made with tender mutton cooked in a creamy and aromatic gravy. This dish is perfect for special occasions and gatherings, and it pairs well with steamed rice or naan.
Ingredients
- 500g mutton, cut into pieces
- 1 cup yogurt
- 2 onions, finely chopped
- 2 tomatoes, pureed
- 1/2 cup cashew nuts, soaked in water
- 1/4 cup coconut milk
- 2 tbsp ghee
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4-5 green cardamom pods
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Marinate the mutton with yogurt and set aside for 30 minutes.
- In a large pot, heat ghee and add the whole spices (cinnamon, cardamom, cumin seeds).
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Stir in the ginger-garlic paste, tomato puree, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until the oil separates.
- Add the marinated mutton and cook on medium heat until the mutton is tender.
- Meanwhile, grind the soaked cashew nuts into a smooth paste.
- Once the mutton is cooked, add the cashew paste and coconut milk. Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot.
