Flaxseed Fiesta (Льняной хлеб)
Льняной хлеб (Flaxseed Fiesta) is a traditional Belarusian bread recipe that is packed with the goodness of flaxseeds and is perfect for a healthy and nutritious meal.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup ground flaxseeds
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, ground flaxseeds, salt, and sugar.
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water and let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Pour the yeast mixture and vegetable oil into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove from the pan and let it cool on a wire rack before slicing.
