Fondue Suisse (swiss Cheese Fondue)
Fondue Suisse, also known as Swiss Cheese Fondue, is a classic dish from Western European cuisine. This creamy and indulgent cheese fondue is perfect for sharing with friends and family, especially during the colder months.
Ingredients
- 1 garlic clove, halved
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 pound Gruyère cheese, grated
- 1/2 pound Emmental cheese, grated
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cubed bread, for dipping
Instructions
- Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the cut sides of the garlic clove.
- Pour the wine and lemon juice into the pot and heat over medium heat.
- Toss the grated Gruyère and Emmental cheese with the flour in a bowl.
- Gradually add the cheese mixture to the pot, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and smooth.
- Stir in the nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
- Transfer the pot to the fondue stand and serve with cubed bread for dipping.
