Fondue Suisse (swiss Cheese Fondue)

Ingredients

  • 1 garlic clove, halved
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 pound Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 1/2 pound Emmental cheese, grated
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cubed bread, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the cut sides of the garlic clove.
  2. Pour the wine and lemon juice into the pot and heat over medium heat.
  3. Toss the grated Gruyère and Emmental cheese with the flour in a bowl.
  4. Gradually add the cheese mixture to the pot, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and smooth.
  5. Stir in the nutmeg, salt, and pepper.
  6. Transfer the pot to the fondue stand and serve with cubed bread for dipping.
